The light comes assembled and you can cut the cord to the length you want it to hang down before wiring it into a ceiling box (or wall box and hanging it from hook).
Cute lamps and a steal for two! Mine came perfectly packed and all parts were in place. The finish was not scratched as others are complaining. I actually was looking for a smaller version but this deal beats all other options. Happy with what I got. I thought to post more pics for those who is on the fence - just take it!
